New book critiques America’s international relationships
In Of Truth and Terrorism (published by AuthorHouse), Gp. Capt. (R) Rab Nawaz Choudhry, who served nearly 30 years in the Pakistan military and exited the force as a high-ranking officer, presents a thought-provoking analysis of the relationship between Pakistan and the U.S. during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
Written primarily for an American audience, Of Truth and Terrorism seeks to explain the high financial and political stakes that are changing the American image in the hearts and minds of the people of the Middle East, Pakistan, and the surrounding region. Combing through the political maneuvers of past American and U.K. officials, including President George W. Bush and Prime Minister Tony Blair, Choudhry delivers a detailed critiquing of policy makers specially while fighting as partners but taking unilateral actions like drone attacks and flirting with India at the cost of Pakistan.
Of Truth and Terrorism also includes an analysis of the relationship the U.S. has with other countries, including Iran, India and Israel. Written for the readers having adequate knowledge of the current political landscape, Of Truth and Terrorism is designed to provide significant background information to each point discussed. When asked to explain the purpose behind his research and analysis featured in Of Truth and Terrorism, Choudhry notes that it is“an appeal to the powerful countries to realize how important justice and fair-play is to eliminate the terrorism in the world.”

Five prominent aspects are described in different parts of the book:
- America is a blessed country and darling of all the poor people in the world, who come to America to find their livelihood irrespective of their legal or illegal status. It is indeed a land of hope and opportunities.
- America and Pakistan are partners in the war on terror in Afghanistan. However, some of American unilateral actions are promoting terrorism in Pakistan through drone attacks and endeavor to benefit India politically in Afghanistan. This tantamounts aggravating war in the region.
- Most of the Americans want to win the hearts and minds of people, which could be achieved by their government through dealing judiciously with all rich and poor countries alike. Selective treatment of American government smells of injustices and brings dislikes towards American people in the world.
- The trend of ignoring friends for small gains from elsewhere amounts to betrayal and is undesirable. It creates mistrust between the friends and their armed forces.
- The end of war was, and is possible from out of the box solution through civilian channel in Pakistan. Although, it is too late, yet is achievable even now. This could be set in motion ASAP by the US government.
